About Us

Good Shepherd Lodge Ltd is the largest aged care provider in the Mackay region and has been providing care to older Australians since 1974.  Good Shepherd Lodge Ltd is affiliated with the Anglican Archdiocese of North Queensland.

We have two sites in Mackay, the original in East Mackay and the newer integrated living community in Beaconsfield opened in 2015.  This service was extended to include an additional 40 beds in 2023. Good Shepherd Ltd also offers retirement living in both locations.

With over 260 beds across both locations, our aged care services are here to help those needing extra care, whether you are coming to live with us permanently or for a short respite stay.

Good Shepherd@Home offers home care packages to enable you to live in your home as long as possible. 

Types of Care

Permanent Care

If you need a new home to live in full time with 24/7 registered nurses and carers. Your ACAT assessment will state whether you have been approved for high or low level care.  This will help inform how our team prepares for and cares for you.

Short Stay and Respite Care

If you only need a short stay while your usual carer is away we have options that can you.

Dementia Care

If you need specialist support for dementia, including Alzheimer’s.

Aged Care Standards

Since July 1st 2019, Good Shepherd Lodge Ltd complies with the Aged Care Quality Standards and is assessed for compliance and performance against the Standards.

These standards focus on outcomes for consumers and reflects the level of care and services expected. More information regarding these standards can be found here: Aged Quality Standards.‍

We publicly commit ourselves to uphold a Code of Conduct. We have attained a Certificate of Compliance for The Retirement Living Code of Conduct at both locations.

The Code of Conduct lets residents know which operators have committed to delivering the best possible experience for them.

It can provide peace of mind for families of residents entering retirement living.

  • Since July 1st 2019, a new Charter of Aged Care Rights has been in place to provide the same rights to all consumers, regardless of the type of Australian Government funded aged care and services they receive. The Charter of Aged Care Rights describes your rights as a consumer of Australian Government funded aged care services.   • The Board of Good Shepherd Lodge Ltd is committed to developing and enhancing the unique service that has been the foundation of the Good Shepherd Lodge for over 40 years. The role of the Board is to provide guidance through its governance to maintain and, where necessary, to improve the standard of care and facilities so that Good Shepherd Lodge and Kerrisdale Gardens remain at the pinnacle of aged care services in the district.
