Good Shepherd Lodge

Good Shepherd Lodge is a 167-bed facility situated on the east side of Mackay in a residential area and is surrounded by beautiful well-maintained grounds and gardens.  All areas of the Lodge have undergone extensive upgrades to present a welcoming and attractive environment.

Our Good Shepherd Lodge community is situated in the heart of Mackay and is renowned for providing our residents a tranquil, safe and caring environment, where around every corner there is a tropical garden or outside area, whilst still being within easy reach of everything.

Our commitment to promoting a healthy and safe environment for our residents includes maintaining smoke-free sites across all our aged care facilities.

With on-site cafe, hairdresser, chapel, children's playground and Therapy Centre, residents have access to a full range of services in a friendly, homelike atmosphere.  In addition, there is a fully furnished self-contained family room available for family/friends visiting from out of town, which can be booked at a nominal rate to allow loved ones to spend quality time at the facility.

Room Options

Residents have the option of choosing to pay a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) in full or alternatively a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) can be arranged or a combination of both.  Examples are given for each room type below.

  • Situated as part of a 45 bed House, these 10 shared rooms are bright, spacious, fully air-conditioned rooms with each bed space having a privacy screen, an individual built in wardrobe and dressing table with enough room to allow for other personal items. All rooms have ceiling fans and are tastefully furnished with quality drapes and finishes and all windows have security screens. Each room has a shared ensuite and a combined space of approximately 30m².

    Cumberland House consists of three wings, with each one having a lounge area with access to garden areas. Large communal dining and lounge areas with televisions and DVD for resident use have been planned to reflect a home-like environment.

  • These 25 bedrooms are bright, spacious and modern, fully air-conditioned rooms with ceiling fans and all are tastefully furnished with quality drapes and finishes.

    All rooms are approximately 19m² with their own built in wardrobe and dressing table with enough additional space to allow for other personal items and all windows have security screens.

  • All 43 rooms are single occupancy with private ensuite and open onto a verandah surrounding an external courtyard/garden.

    Large, modern and spacious with an area of approximately 20m², each room offers garden views through large windows with security screens fitted to windows and doors. All rooms are air conditioned with ceiling fans and a built in wardrobe incorporates ample storage and bench space. Quality furnishings and fixtures have been used throughout.

    Some rooms have been designed with interconnecting doors suitable for couples accommodation.

    Each wing comprise an average of 14 rooms, with a large communal living room, tastefully decorated with high quality furniture and fittings. There is a television and DVD for resident use.

    In addition, there is a central dining room for and a private dining area for resident family/friends use.

  • These large rooms are of exceptional quality and comprise 31.5m² of floor space with separate living and bedroom areas, small kitchenette and private 12.5m² courtyard opening off the bedroom. All rooms have built in wall units and include a small refrigerator.

    All furnishings and fixtures are of the highest quality and provide a unique ambiance.

    With only 10 rooms within this complex residents enjoy a secure and private setting with its own exclusive dining area, lounge, library and visitors kitchenette. Rooms open onto a wide verandah overlooking an external courtyard with gazebo.

At Good Shepherd Lodge, we have 42 different independent living units for you to choose from, suiting every budget.

The units have been architecturally designed to provide a sense of connectivity and community for our residents. With open corridors enabling natural light and air flow to filtrate through communal areas, you’ll be sure to feel at home.

Our team of gardeners take pride in maintaining our luscious landscaped gardens for our residents to enjoy. Borrow a book from our residents library and read from one of the many verandahs, take a coffee from the café or simply stroll at your leisure. The choice is yours.

We can provide cleaning, laundry, medical administration and personal care. With the added peace of mind of 24-hour emergency assistance provided by our team of registered nurses.

Facilities include a hair and beauty salon, café and dining area. There is also a children’s zone so you’ll be able to spend time with grandchildren or new friends.
